Am I too late???

I have been freaking out today, questioning our flooring choices. Originally, hubby and I decided not to upgrade the flooring and we would wait a year or two and install tile and hardwood. Now I am not too sure that was the best option and I don't think I can change it. They are scheduled to start working on the house this week and according to the rep I spoke with today thinks it may be too late. The sales rep I spoke who was filling in for my normal rep said if they are scheduled to break ground they have already ordered everything so she's almost sure I wouldn't be able to change anything. Does anyone know if this is true??? Has anyone made changes after their home started building?

  1. I think the rep is right. We changed something, but it was with Guardian. They order everything for your house and then its delivered according to a schedule.

May I ask why you're freakin out? You could probably do it cheaper if you wait and it won't be rolled into the mortgage. We didn't upgrade on the flooring either, but we knew we were going to redo the floors over time.

  2. I think it is too late! I made changes 3 weeks before ground breaking including brick and siding...and they were not happy! You will love it no matter what bit I know how you feel ...there are still things I wish I could add or change every day!

  3. Generally I think they order everything when you start construction...but it never hurts to ask. If you are really persuasive they might let you make the change because in the end they do want you to be happy. My PM keeps calling the settlement "our Christmas morning" - isn't that cute?

  4. If you keep pushing for it they will allow the change but most likely will push back the breaking ground and your closing date will change. You can always do the floors on another time. You can wait a year or something use thetime to decorate the house and get new furniture. I plan to upgrade my floors after I live in the new house for a while.

  5. Did you know you have a picture of a Milan model up? (It's what I'm building. lol)

I thought you had to pay to change anything after the final stuff was submitted. Not sure. You could ask your main Rep.

  6. @2011...I had forgot to take a picture of our flooring choices back in March and when I looked up the product numbers I started to second guess my choices.

@Momoftwins, Shara, and Stephaine...I think the hubby and I are just going to leave everything as is and then start pricing hardwood after Christmas.

@Noey...I think I deleted one of your comments by accident trying to respond via my phone...sorry.

The picture was what came up when I pulled up the Rome model on the website. Either the models are very similar or I've been duped...lol

My medical vacation has ended...I am now back to my 10 hour work schedule.

  7. I always thought that you could change but you may ave to pay some sort of penalty. I could be wrong about that though! But if you can't change it, at least it is something you can change later. :)

  8. Don't change. Anything you want will likely be substantially cheaper later and you won't be making payments on for 360 months.

  9. @ ACP I spoke with my rep and she didn't say I couldn't nor did she say anything about the penalty...yet. Although I beleive like NkyRavenna said I can do it later for cheaper.

@NkyRavenna...I think we are going to stick with what we have.

So what did you decide about the floors?
